Principal's Message

Dear UASCS Family,

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year at Utica Academy of Science Charter School!

I hope you have been having a great summer filled with joy and excitement. UASCS has been in session all summer, offering various sessions for new and returning scholars. We have been working diligently with our team to introduce new academic programs and improve existing ones. We are proud to offer so many new programs and improve the facilities, as our first graduating seniors prepare to walk across the stage in June 2017.

Utica Academy is committed to support and challenge each and every scholar to become well-rounded, college and career ready individuals. To reach this goal, UASCS consistently builds its programs around the key design elements aligned with its mission to be an exemplary STEM Focused, College Prep Public Charter School in New York State.

UASCS confidently grows into its promised capacity each year. We continue to tap into local resources and build strong connections with area colleges, organizations, and businesses. This year we are proud to offer the following programs at UASCS, including but not limited to:
  • AP and MVCC Dual Credit Courses
  • MVCC College Connection Program
  • School-wide College Mentorship Program (CMP)
  • College Guidance Department
  • SUNY ESF College Courses
  • MVCC STEP Program
  • SUNY Oswego Summer Internships
  • Hamilton College Tutoring Program
  • Project Challenge – Building Soft Skills One At a Time
  • Soccer Field and Growth in Sports Program
To educate responsible, productive citizens, UASCS introduces new programs and resources to improve scholars’ soft skills. The programs include school-wide CMP, character education, and two new peacemaker counselors at both buildings. This year we are excited to extend CMP to all scholars in the fields of personal development, community service, expedition & exploration and physical fitness. Each scholar will be assigned to an adviser with whom they meet periodically. With the adviser’s assistance, scholars will set personal goals to pursue and reach throughout the year.

As we approach the first day of school, I wish you a great rest of the summer and I look forward to seeing you for another great year at UASCS.

Warmest Regards,
Mustafa Ersoy
