Atoms host a Black History Month Celebration
Monday, February 28th, 2022—Utica Academy of Science junior-senior high school hosted a Black History Month celebration filled with art, music, delicious soul food, and a special guest speaker. To kick-off the celebration, the school was decorated with works of art from the Atoms, including pictures and posters of influential African American citizens, a decorative banner, custom freedom quilts made by the 7th-grade students, printmaking from the 9th-grade students, and much more!
Utica Academy of Science junior-senior high school welcomed guest speaker Dr. Cynthia Jones who shared inspirational songs and poems with the students.
We want to give a shout-out and thank Mr. Lee, Mr. Bryant, Mr. Basic, Mr. Mac for planning and orchestrating the Black History Month Celebration event. A special thank you to all the teachers who helped behind the scenes with the students creating artwork, posters, and poetry recitations for this event. All your hard work has not gone unnoticed. Thank you!
