First Grade Atoms get Crafty Celebrating Earth Day

First grade students celebrated Earth Day by creating a bird feeder out of upcycled material.

Wednesday, May 5th, 2021The Utica Academy of Science first grade Atoms in Miss DeAngelis and Ms. Biel’s class, celebrated Earth Day by participating in a variety of hands-on, minds-on activities. Students could create the following items

  • Mini greenhouse
  • Recyclable bird feeder
  • Thank You letter for Earth
  • Brown paper bag earth

Each of these activities provided the students with an opportunity to learn about the importance of taking care of Earth, upcycling material to create something new, seed germination and much more. This year’s Earth Day theme was, ‘Restore our Earth.’ Click here to view more pictures from the Earth Day celebration. Keep up the great work, Atoms!
