For the 2020-21 school year, should the Utica Academy of Science Charter School close for snow days or due to inclement weather, those days will be REMOTE learning days for all students. No in person learning will occur, but students will be expected to attend classes virtually. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s school directly!

Friday, December 18th, 2020—Utica Academy of Science Elementary School’s Picture Retake Day will be on Friday, December 18^th. Keeping health and safety in mind, please note this procedure to ensure a safe event for all.

Students must enter in the back of the building, as Picture Retake Day will be held in the school cafeteria. Families, please drive to the back of the building (staff parking lot). We are asking that students only enter the building for Picture Retake Day. There will be only two students allowed in the cafeteria at a time. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Tuesday, December 15th, 2020—Interested in giving back to your community this holiday season? Come join Utica Academy of Science tomorrow as they host a virtual Card Writing Workshop. Participants will receive cards (either mailed or dropped off) to use to write a handwritten note to the residents of the Masonic Care Community. On Tuesday, December 15th, there will be a Zoom Card Writing Workshop session for students to write together virtually. Ideally, we ask that students write 2-3 cards, and a template will be provided.  This event is available for all students to participate.

Tuesday, December 15th, 2020—Utica Academy of Science Elementary School will be hosting its monthly Coffee Talk virtually on Tuesday, December 15th at 6:00 PM. All families are welcome to attend as we discuss topics and share resources and experiences that are relevant to our school community. The goal of these monthly meetings is to create an environment for both students and parents alike that will foster greater interaction, growth and learning to occur. Saturday, December 12th, 2020—Looking to get into the ‘Winter Spirit?’ Well look no further, as Utica Academy of Science Honor Society is hosting a Snowman Building Contest that will take place throughout the month of December. Winners will be selected on Tuesday, January 5^th. So Atoms, let us ask you this - Do you want to build a snowman?

How to Participate

Wednesday, December 9th, 2020—Everyone’s favorite holiday family, the McCallisters, are back for the Utica Academy of Science middle school’s virtual Movie Night. Join the McCallisters (and the Atoms) on Wednesday, December 9^th at 3:00 PM as they see how Kevin jet sets to New York City and saves the holidays from the ‘Sticky Bandits’ with the help of his new friend, the pigeon lady. The middle school teachers will be organizing a Google Meet Movie night for 6th Grade students. The details will be shared with the students.

Wednesday, November 25th, 2020—In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday there will be no school on Wednesday, November 25th through Friday, November 27th. School will resume on Monday, November 30th.

SANY in collaboration with Chartwells has developed a [contactless drive through] meal service that will allow students greater access to food while at home.

Who Qualifies

• All students enrolled in SANY Schools are eligible to participate.
• All children 18 or younger are eligible to participate.
• Children do not need to be enrolled in SANY Schools to participate.
• All students are eligible to pick up meals at their enrolled site.

Registration and Pickup
To participate, parents/guardians can pre-register for the following week directly at the pickup locations a week in advance. All you need to do is let the staff at the pick-up location know how many meals you want to pick up the following week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
