Thursday, September 5, 2019—Welcome back, Atoms! We hope you all had a fantastic summer and wish you all the best for this upcoming 2019 - 2020 school year. To our Atoms’ Family, 

The first day of school holds a certain level of wonder. As I walked the halls this morning, I heard teachers patiently sharing their vision of the upcoming school year with their new students. Classrooms that will be bustling with energy in the coming months were almost silent as students who are eager to learn, excited to see their friends, and a little nervous about what surprises a new year may hold as they adjust back into the rhythm of the school day. 

Today is a day of new beginnings. Some of you may have put your child on the bus for the first time this morning, and others may have been secretly cheering as your teenager is finally going to be out of the house. However this morning went for you, we all have one thing in common (myself included). We all chose to send our children to a Science Academies of New York Charter School. 

So let me say this -- Thank you for trusting us to educate and prepare your children for their bright futures. We have a remarkable team of educators across our buildings who are committed to providing your children the best opportunity to become productive, contributing and caring citizens.

It is very important that all students feel comfortable and safe at school, especially as our schools grow in number and size. In response to the educational needs of families in Utica and Syracuse, we now serve students in elementary, middle and high schools in both communities. This year student enrollment continues to climb in all of our charter schools, with more than 1,500 students on our waiting list and approximately 2,000 students enrolled in grades K-12.

We are looking forward to working with each of you to ensure your child’s success. Together we are building success one ATOM at a time.

Friday, August 30, 2019—Just a friendly reminder, there will be no school on Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day. The First Day of School is Thursday, September 5th. Have a happy and safe Labor Day weekend, Atoms!

Tuesday, August 27, 2019— The 2019 - 2020 school year is approaching quickly. This year, there have been updates to the start and end time, as well as, the Bell Schedule for our Utica Academy of Science schools. Please view the times and schedules below for your student's respective school.

Elementary School - The school day will begin at 8:25 AM and will conclude at 3:00 PM

Thursday, August 15, 2019—We are looking forward to seeing our Atoms in just a few short weeks. As a friendly reminder, the Student Handbook is updated for the 2019 - 2020 school year. Friday, August 9, 2019—It's the most wonderful time of the year, School Supply List time. While summer is still in full swing, we want to make sure our Atoms are prepared for the First Day of School on September 5th. Head to our Supply List section, which can be found on the homepage, to view the complete list of items needed for the 2019 - 2020 school year. Supply Lists are broken down by each grade. Wednesday, August 7, 2019—It's time to lace up those soccer cleats and to register your team for the 1st Annual Utica Academy of Science Soccer Cup. The tournament will be held at Utica Academy of Science High School on Saturday, August 24th at 9:00 AM. The cost per team is $100. Teams can compete in divisions of 10U (7 V 7), 12U (7 V 7), 14U (7 V 7) and 16U (7 V 7). Teams can be registered at https://bit.ly/2ZFrQFl. We hope to see you there!

Attention all 9th-12th grade students who need to complete the August Regents Exam, please mark your calendar for Tuesday, August 13th and Wednesday, August 14th. The Regents Exam will begin at 8:15 AM. Please consult the schedule below for additional exam information.

Wednesday, July 10th—Is your 9-12th grade Atom looking to attend camp this summer? Well, look no further than Utica Academy of Science's Archery Summer Camp. Camp is in session starting August 12th-15th. Campers will be able to learn the basics of how to use a recurve bow, proper safety practices on an archery range, games and general care and maintenance. Space is limited, and is first come, first serve. To reserve your spot today, contact the office at (315) 574-3000.
