Dear Utica Academy of Science Charter School families, teachers, staff, atoms, and community,
Believe it or not, it’s finally that time of the year, a season of joy, giving, and well-deserved relaxation. You’ve all been extraordinary examples of leaders and strong community members. Let’s take a moment to commend ourselves on the impeccable progress we’ve made during the first semester, regardless of the obstacles we’ve encountered.
Now it’s time to deck the halls and share precious memories with loved ones. Remember, we are not just a district but a family. I look forward to building success one Atom at a time in the New Year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Tolga Hayali
SANY Superintendent
Monday, December 4th, 2023: Members of the Utica City Football Club visited Utica Academy of Science second grade classrooms. They read to Atoms and answered questions about what it's like to play on the team. Scholars were excited to have these special guests in their classroom!
You’re the gift that keeps on thanks-giving. While you prepare your Thanksgiving dinners, before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season sets in, we want to express our sincere gratitude to each of you. It's easy to get lost in the things we don't have. The fancy car, the clothes, the latest phone. Instead, try focusing on everything you do have. Ultimately, you will find it's a much greater list with a more significant impact.
This season, focus on the things you're thankful for, and the gratitude will follow. May your blessings be many, your troubles be few, and your Thanksgiving be wonderful.
Superintendent Dr. Hayali has prepared a special Thanksgiving message. Take a look.
Saturday, November 11th, 2023: Utica Academy of Science junior-senior high school celebrated Veterans Day with a special tribute. Relatives, loved ones, and friends of teachers and staff who have served were proudly displayed in our hallway for all to see and celebrate.
Thank you to those who risked their lives to make our country safe.
On Saturday, November 11th, 2023: Several Utica Academy of Science junior-senior high school students participated in the CNY Bridges Challenge at the MOST Museum in Syracuse. There were 13 teams from Utica Academy of Science and a total of about 81 teams in the competition. One of our 8th-grade teams got 9th place! Please join us in congratulating Ajout Ajang and John Linen Jr for placing.
Monday, November 13th, 2023: Utica Academy of Science Kindergarteners in Ms. Moziak’s art class made paint dotter pumpkins over the past week to celebrate the fall season! They had a great time experimenting with different color combinations, and were very proud to show off their art in the main hallway.
Check out these little artists!
Thursday, November 9th, 2023: Ms. Mumpton’s class has grown by two! Since the class reached their goal of 2,000 Dojo points for October, on November 8th, two guinea pigs were adopted as class pets! Their names are Coco and Honey. The students will be responsible for cleaning the cage, feeding them, giving them water, and everything they need to thrive in the classroom. Studies have shown that a classroom pet may help improve children's academic performance and social skills.
These Atoms are excited to welcome the new classmates to their fourth-grade classroom!
