Wednesday, May 10th, 2023: The fourth grade took a field trip to the Munson in Utica, and it was truly a masterpiece! The scholars dove into the rich history of the extraordinary art museum. They learned about optical illusions in the artwork while viewing the exhibits and participating in mind-boggling hands-on activities. It reminded them that art has the power to change the way we see the world.
Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023: Huge shoutout to our varsity Track and Field team members who represented Utica Academy of Science at the 2023 Section 3 Championship in Little Falls. Track stars included the four by 100 relay team; Surayyah Monteiro, So Chomm, Ajna Husovic, and Azareya Brown. Katrell Huff showed out in all the sprinting races with a 4th place finish in the 200-meter dash and 3rd place finishes in the 100-meter and 400-meter dashes.
Our boys on the four-by-400-meter relay team, which consisted of Katrell, Danny Haynes, Amari Berkley, and Wol Matcheng had the race of the day with a photo finishing 2nd place run and a time that sent them to the New York State Track and Field Semi-Finals. The performance of the night goes to Wol Matcheng, who once again dominated the 400-meter hurdles and is now crowned the Section 3 Champion in his event. He will also move on to the State Semi-Finals at CNS high school. Congratulations to the entire track team on a fantastic season, and good luck to our stars moving on to States next week!

Friday, May 12th, 2023: Utica Academy of Science High School celebrated its first-ever Cultural Day! The Korean Culture Club organized the event to celebrate and embrace the diverse backgrounds of its student body. Students were encouraged to wear traditional outfits that represented their cultural heritage.
Not surprisingly, the school was filled with excitement and color as #UASAtoms arrived wearing beautiful outfits! The atmosphere was lively and festive, with students posing for pictures and sharing the stories behind their outfits.
The reviews are in, and a student says, "It's great to see the school embracing our diverse backgrounds and giving us a platform to showcase our cultures." Thank you for making our first Cultural Day a success. Let's do even better next year!
Thursday, May 11th, 2023: We all at Utica Academy of Science would like to thank everyone who helped make our 10th Anniversary celebration possible. Thank you to Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon for presenting our school with a proclamation to recognize this milestone. We would also like to thank all the community organizations, STEM supporters, teachers, staff, students, parents, and alums who helped us reach ten years of growth and success in the Utica community. With your continued support for our children, we know we will make it to another decade and beyond.

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2023: Utica Academy of Science Charter School is pleased to announce we are celebrating ten years of growth and success in the community! We have come a long way from offering grades 6-9 to expanding to K-12. In 2013, under Dr. Tolga Hayali's leadership, the Science Academies of New York (SANY) opened Utica Academy of Science. After two successful years, UAS expanded to a second location on School Lane in Frankfort. In 2018, UAS received a five-year renewal from the New York State Board of Regents. Shortly after, UAS added an elementary school. In 2021, both of our Utica locations combined into one school in Frankfort. Utica Academy of Science is currently awaiting approval for another five-year renewal from the NYS Board of Regents.
We wouldn’t be where we are today without the help of our beloved families, students, community members, and STEM supporters. Thank you for the past decade. Here’s to many more.
