Students put their hearts into it and showed off their impressive basketball skills while raising awareness for heart health. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this important cause.
Let's continue to prioritize heart health and stay active through fun activities like this!
Wednesday, March 14h, 2023: Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior High School students had a smashing Pi Day, all while raising money for individuals affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Atoms purchased a ticket for a “pie” made of shaving cream to smash into a teacher's face! Pi Day at Utica Academy of Science was a huge success, thanks to the staff and students hard work and dedication. By emphasizing the educational value of math and its connection to real-world issues, UAS has demonstrated its commitment to fostering a love of learning and a passion for intellectual curiosity among its students.
Here's hoping for an even bigger and better celebration of math’s favorite number next year!
Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023: The Utica Academy of Science Junior-Senior High Student Council organized a Spirit Week in February for grades 7-12. In order to participate, students brought in canned and boxed donations. The Student Council collected over 500 goods and donated those items to the Rescue Mission of Utica. The Rescue Mission was so grateful to our students and their families for the generous donation!
Tuesday, February 14th, 2023: Utica Academy of Science 4th graders had the opportunity to get out of the classroom and break the everyday routine by taking a field trip to the movies! Atoms saw "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.” Not only was the trip a fun experience, but it also helped scholars develop social skills by learning how to interact with peers and engage in group activities. These skills are important for building strong relationships and working collaboratively in the future.
Wednesday, March 8th, 2023: "My mother told me to be a lady. And for her, that meant be your own person, be independent"- Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Happy International Women's Day! Utica Academy of Science Elementary School proudly celebrates the amazing women who make a difference in our school community. We want to express our appreciation to all the female teachers and staff who contribute their time, talent, and dedication to educating and inspiring our students. To show our gratitude, we gave them chocolates and flowers as a token of our admiration. Thank you for all that you do!

Wednesday, February 15th, 2023: Utica Academy of Science elementary school students and staff celebrated the 100th day of school! Atoms had a blast imagining what it would be like to be 100 years old!
From walkers to canes, gray wigs to spectacles, everyone brought their A-game to make this celebration memorable. Seeing our students and staff's creativity and enthusiasm was amazing, and we couldn't be more proud of their efforts!
We hope this day will be a reminder of how far we've come and how much we've accomplished this school year. Let's keep up the hard work and dedication as we continue to learn and grow together.
Tuesday, February 14th, 2023: Utica Academy of Science first graders had a special treat on Valentine's Day. Atoms got out of the classroom and saw the movie Lightyear at the Little Falls theater. Scholars snacked on popcorn and juice while they watched the film. They had a wonderful time looking for light sources in the movie related to their science lesson, Light and Sound!
Thursday, February 16th, 2023: Utica Academy of Science 4th & 5th graders gave their first band performance! At the beginning of the year, students chose an instrument, and they have been working hard for the last five months receiving small group lessons and attending rehearsals after school. Learning how to not only play an instrument but also teaches responsibility, self-confidence, and cooperation. Atoms showcased their musical journey by playing full-group songs and each section separately. Family and friends were invited to attend the performance and enjoy a special breakfast with their musical scholars afterward.
This is the first Utica Academy of Science Band in history. It consists of about 70 students playing flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone, and percussion. We are very thankful for the supportive school and home environments allowing our students to gain confidence and independence through music instruction. Congratulations on a fantastic performance!
