Thursday, December 15th, 2022: Utica Academy of Science elementary students had a magical time with Santa and his elves. People First, formerly the Municipal Housing Authority from Utica, visited our school to surprise students with Santa. Atoms had a great time dancing, hugging, giving high fives, and taking pictures with Santa!
We thank People First for putting such big smiles on our students' faces.
Please check our Facebook for more pictures.
Dear Utica Academy of Science Charter School Community,
How is it already Holiday Break? It seems like we were welcoming students back on campus for the new school year just yesterday. The end of the year is a time for reflection and remembrance. We are thankful for where we came from and have a moment to think about where we are going as we pursue the future with hope.
Therefore, I want to take some time to reflect on everything we have accomplished together so far this year.
Looking at that long list of accomplishments, it’s hard to believe we are only halfway through the year! We can tackle anything as long as we work together as many atoms, one family.
Happy holidays!
Sincerely,
Dr. Tolga Hayali
SANY Superintendent
Wednesday, December 14th, 2022: The Utica City FC Soccer Team visited Utica Academy Elementary School and had some amazing moments with our scholars. Professional soccer players put on a show with some special tricks that amazed students. They also organized games that included our students. It was such a blast for everyone!
Thank you for visiting us!
Wednesday, December 7th, 2022: Congratulations to the Utica Academy of Science girls' basketball team for their win against the Cincinnatus Lions! It was a close game, and it came down to a last-second win with a final score of 39-36.
Tuesday, November 29th, 2022: Utica Academy of Science Elementary School held the student of the month assembly. These assemblies are held each month to award atoms who were selected as the student of the month for each grade. The Dojo winner is also honored by earning the highest points for outstanding performance for the month.
Congratulations to our November students of the month! Thank you for being role models to your classmates.
Monday, November 28th, 2022: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go,” Dr. Seuss.
Utica Academy of Science fifth graders went on a field trip to the Utica Public Library. Scholars were able to open library cards and check out books. The Children's Area has several series we love, including Goosebumps, The Baby-Sitters Club, and Star Wars. We took a tour of the building, learning its history along the way. The trip included a winter-themed craft and snack! Our atoms are excited to keep using their library cards!
Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022: Utica Academy of Science junior-senior high school organized a Thanksgiving dinner for teachers and staff. It was so much fun to share a meal with the UAS Family before enjoying some much-needed time off with family. Thanks to all the talented cooks for preparing delicious food for everyone, especially turkey master chef Mr. Mirsen.
We are very thankful for our hard-working staff here at SANY. We hope everyone enjoyed Thanksgiving with their families and loved ones.
Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022: Our fourth graders went on a field trip to the NY Energy Zone inside the Utica Zoo before they left for Thanksgiving break.
The NY Energy Zone gave our scholars an electrifying experience full of interactive exhibits, activities, movies, and videos. Atoms were introduced to the dynamic world of electricity, past, present, and future, and New York State’s part in it. Scholars also learned about New York State’s exciting electric history, great electric companies, and the important work at NYPA’s Frederick R. Clark Energy Control Center nearby in Marcy.
Monday, November 21st, 2022: Utica Academy of Science Kindergarten classes had an amazing field trip to the Accelerate Sports complex. Atoms were taught about different types of sports and even saw demonstrations for each of them! Most of our atoms haven’t started playing a sport yet, so they were eager to learn something new!
Friday, November 18th, 2022: Utica Academy of Science third graders had a blast visiting the Most museum in Syracuse. From the dino zone, to the earth science discovery cave and the science playhouse there was something new to experience in every room! Atoms were able to interact with exhibits that they have been learning about in class.
The MOST is always an exciting place to take our atoms!
