UAS ES Welcomes the Future Class of 2034

Future Utica Academy of Science elementary school Atoms are busy partaking in their Kindergarten Screening.

Wednesday, March 5th, 2021Utica Academy of Science elementary school opened its doors and welcomed the future Class of 2034 for their Kindergarten Screening. This was the first time many of the families were able to enter the building, and excitement was shared by everyone. Congratulations to all the soon to be Atoms, we look forward to having you join us next school year. Welcome to Utica Academy of Science elementary school!

UASCS Administration Team Become CPR Certified

The health and safety of all Utica Academy of Science students, faculty and staff are of utmost importance, the UASCS administration team received First Aid and CPR training to become officially certified.

Wednesday, April 28th, 2021Utica Academy of Science administration team had an opportunity to become First Aid and CPR certified. As the health and safety of all students, faculty and staff are of the utmost importance, having faculty and staff become CPR and First Aid certified will help Utica Academy of Science continue to be able to respond to any emergency situation both in or outside of school.

During the CPR and First Aid training session, participants were able to learn how to apply CPR and First Aid techniques, how to properly operate the AED machine, and how to respond to any life-affecting events.

Teacher Appreciation 2021

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Day, SANY would like to thank all of their teachers for their dedication, hard work and passion for education.

Tuesday, May 4th, 2021—Words simply cannot express how thankful, grateful and our appreciation for the Utica Academy of Science Charter School teachers. This past year, you have all gone above and beyond the call of duty, have risen to the occasion and demonstrated perseverance and resilience so that you can meet the needs of the Atoms! This year has been challenging on many, and some how, and in some way you have overcome many obstacles and hurdles that were in your path, and have done so with positivity and kindness. We thank you for your continued flexibility, creativity and dedication. Many Atoms, one family. We hope you all have a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Day, and great remainder of the school year.

ELA State Testing, No Probllama for Atoms

Utica Academy of Science middle school teachers wear matching llama t-shirts that read, “Test Day, No Probllama” to help spark excitement and enthusiasm amongst students taking the ELA State Test.

Tuesday, April 27th, 2021Utica Academy of Science middle school teachers team up and find a creative way to turn ELA State Testing into something fun, and exciting. On the day of the ELA State Test, teachers wore matching t-shirts with a llama wearing sunglasses (not red pajamas) with the phrase, “Test Day, No Probllama!” This fun t-shirt sparked joy, happiness, and excitement amongst not only the students but faculty and staff, as well. What a fun and creative idea!

High School Atoms set out and Conquer the SATs

Utica Academy of Science high school students remain socially distant and sit 6 feet apart while taking the SAT Exam.

Tuesday, April 27th, 2021Utica Academy of Science high school students had an opportunity to take the SAT Exam earlier today. This rigorous exam is roughly a 4 hour exam that tests a student on their reading, writing and math skills, and an essay portion which is optional. The highest score to receive on the SAT is a 1600.

Prior to the Atoms taking the SAT, students had their temperatures screened and were instructed to sit 6 feet apart. Way to go Atoms, we are so proud of you!

3rd Grade Atoms Rock their First ELA State Test

Thursday, April 22nd, 2021—Utica Academy of Science 3rd grade Atoms are some smart cookies as they rocked their first ELA state test last week. Thank you to all the teachers, faculty and staff who helped not only prepare the students for their first state test, but also helped make this a fun, exciting and rewarding experience. Way to go Atoms, we are so proud of you!

Pencils Down: High School Atoms Conquer the PSATs

Thursday, April 22nd, 2021Late last week, Utica Academy of Science high school students had an opportunity to take the Preliminary SAT or PSAT. This rigorous exam is roughly 2 hours and 45 minutes and tests a student on their reading, writing and math skills. The highest score to receive on the PSAT is 1520. Prior to the Atoms taking the PSAT, students had their temperatures screened and were instructed to sit 6 feet apart. Way to go Atoms, we are so proud of you!

Middle School Atoms Purple Up! For Military Kids

Utica Academy of Science middle school faculty and staff wear various shades of purple to show their support for Military families on Purple Up! For Military Kids Day.

Wednesday, April 21st, 2021Utica Academy of Science middle school faculty and staff show their support for the Military families by wearing various shades of purple for 'Purple Up! Day." ‘Purple Up! Day’ or “Purple Up! For Military Kids,” is a day for Department of Defense Education Activity communities to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices. Below are some more fun facts about Purple Up! Day.

  •  Purple Up! Day is typically held on April 15th each year.
  • The color purple was selected as there is a tradition in the military when referencing the color purple. For instance, the phrase “purple suit” which can refer to a military activity or organization that includes civilians and/or multiple branches of the military.
  • Purple also indicates that all branches of the military are supported.

Atoms Volunteer to Help a Community Member in Need

Utica Academy of Science high school students volunteer their time to assist an elderly community member with light yard work as part of their Community Organization initiative.

Saturday, April 17th, 2021As part of the Community Organization initiative, a group of Utica Academy of Science high school students teamed up this past weekend to help an elderly community member with light yard work. Atoms rolled up their sleeves, grabbed a few rakes and tarps and assisted with raking leaves and picking up yard debris. Words cannot express how proud we are of the students for volunteering their time to help a community member in need. Way to go, Atoms!

Atoms Dress for Success for the ELA Test

Friday, April 16th, 2021The 3rd grade Atoms in Ms. Muhic’s class showed how hard they have worked and prepared for their upcoming ELA test by dressing for success. In dressing for success, the Atoms all wear a smile, because as we may remember from the Tony Award Winning Broadway musical, Annie, “you’re never fully dressed without a smile.” Good luck, Atoms we know you’ll do great!
